The French week in Jordanian restaurants has just begun and I cannot remove the thought of testing and tasting out of my head! I want to try the recipes that are on and enjoy a bit of France in my convenient little Amman. French cuisine had always attracted me since my visit to France in 2000 I was still a young school girl but my taste buds know exactly what they experienced there was certainly special.
I would certainly say that the thing that attracts me the most to French cuisine is the intense cheese platter and the sensational wine to go with it. The variety of dishes that are certainly carefully cooked and precisely tailored to set your taste buds on for a flavorful journey. Of all these I would love to share one of my favorite appetizers from this cuisine “Baked Camembert Cheese” and you will need:
– 1 Round Camembert Cheese
– 1 Cup Raspberry Jam
– 2 Tablespoons Crushed Walnuts
Bake your Camembert in the oven for around twenty minutes at 250 degrees. While the cheese is baking, use a casserole to cook the raspberry jam on low heat till it is hot use a strainer to take out all the bits out and keep the clear sauce of the jam. Remove the warm cheese from the oven and put it on a serving platter and start to lightly drizzle a small amount of the raspberry sauce on top of the cheese (Do not overdo it because it becomes overpowering). As the final touch, dust the zigzag of sauce with the crushed walnuts. This dish would be just perfect if paired with slices of fresh baguette or breadsticks.
Starting today I will be going around Amman and sharing with you my thoughts about the french cuisine experience. Let us hope my taste buds will be taken on a short journey to Paris and the amazing gourmet dishes to savor.
